Artificial Intelligence in Medicine: Predict Joins Salento Biomedical District Event with Mistral Technologies

On June 19, 2025, we were among the key participants at the event “Artificial Intelligence in Medicine: From Innovation to Clinical Practice”, organized by the Salento Biomedical District in collaboration with UniSalento and the Italian Institute of Technology. The event was designed to bridge the gap between healthcare and innovation, bringing together medical professionals, companies, students, and researchers.

During the meeting, we presented Mistral—a project that combines a medical device for breath sampling, advanced chemical-analytical techniques for the analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and machine learning algorithms capable of generating a predictive health score.

The goal is to provide physicians with a simple, non-invasive, and reliable tool, based on real-world data validated through clinical trials conducted on a national scale. The core idea is to turn an everyday act—breathing—into a health indicator.

In our presentation, we focused on the application of AI for the early prediction of diseases, through the analysis of human breath. We demonstrated how artificial intelligence—when fueled by high-quality clinical data and integrated with the right tools—can support doctors in detecting hidden signals, improving prevention and diagnosis, especially in oncology.

The event underscored a key message: the dialogue between clinical practice and technology is now essential. It is precisely through these connections that we can develop solutions capable of making medicine increasingly predictive, personalized, and patient-centered.
